Since Necesse launched into early access in 2019 and since then has grown in popularity considerably. Although Necesse is in early access, the does feature a steam workshop page where many users have uploaded fan-made mods for the game.
I am going to show you 5 mods that I am currently using in my game to enhance my personal experience.
Summary
- Mod 1: Chests Expanded
- Mod 2: Mount Pack
- Mod 3: Another Vein Miner (Fixed)
- Mod 4: Increased Stack Size
- Mod 5: Boss Fight Summary
Chests Expanded Mod
The chests expanded mod is a great mod for all of you hoarders out there. In a nutshell, this mod adds 3 new chest types to the game. It also changes one of the existing chests, (the demon chest) to have 50 storage slots instead of the vanilla 40.
Essentially changing almost nothing to the difficulty of the game, this is a great mod for those who want to stick with a fairly vanilla game experience. The mod adds 3 new chests. These are:
- Ivy Chest: 60 slots
- Tungsten Chest: 70 slots
- Ancient Fossil Chest: 80 slots.
As the names suggest, you craft them using the respective metal bar types. (Ivy, tungsten and ancient fossil.) They cost 8 bars each.
Mount Pack
With a name that doesn’t really leave much to the imagination, the Mount Pack mod adds some new mounts to the game. Who doesn’t love riding around on mounts?
Currently the mod adds two new mounts to the game. The spider and the bat. These can be found as loot from the first two bosses in the game. The bat has a chance at dropping from the Evil’s Protector boss and the Spider mount has a chance at dropping from the Spider Queen after defeated.
Alternatively, you can possibly find them for sale at the travelling merchant after defeating the respective boss.
Another Vein Miner
We’ve come to the first actual game-mechanic changing mod of the list. The Another Vein Miner mod simplifies mining ore in the game. What this mod does is allows you to mine faster. Once you mine one small part of a metal vein in the caves, the entire ore vein will break apart. This speeds up your mining time byu quite a lot!
The original mod was no longer updated to work with the newer version of Necesse so this new author has continued where the last had started.
Honestly now that I am using this mod I don’t think I will ever be able to go back to the vanilla mining experience. Some might say that the time you take mining is a part of the game experience, but i’d rather just get as much ore as possible in a short amount of time.
Increased Stack Size
Another great mod for inventory goblins is the Increased Stack Size mod. This mod increases the amount of items you can have in each stack, meaning you will be taking a lot less space in your inventory when hoarding items. This is also a really great one for players that are using a lot of ranged weapons with ammunition.
This mod is also multiplayer compatible but both players will need to download the mod in order for it to work. Fairly simple mod that helps keep inventories and chests cleaner.
Boss Fight Summary
The final mod on this list is actually created by the developer of the game himself. Boss Fight Summary allows you to see where the damage to the bosses are coming from. Advertised as a way to catch your friends slacking in co-op, Boss Fight Summary displays exactly how much damage each character did at the end of a boss fight.
Another handy feature is that it tells you how long the boss fight took in total. Great for keeping score of your boss fights time and makes it interesting to go back after you’ve found better gear and see how much better you can do in the old fights.
