The unique kingdom sandbox of Mount and Blade: Bannerlord hosts a large range of different activities. The world consists of many different factions and lords and ladies of Calradia. From time to time they will start wars and do battle. Your own party and other AI lords can be captured in battle and sent to a dungeon.
This guide will show you how you can bust lords out of a dungeon. This is great for improving relations with different lords or raising your roguery and charm skills as well.

Finding a Lord in a Dungeon
The first thing you will need to do if you plan on rescuing a lord out of a prison is to find one! You can only find lords in dungeons of different towns scattered across the map. Once a lord is defeated in battle, they will remain in the victor’s prisoners. Once they reach a town, there is a good chance that the enemy lord will be thrown in the dungeon there.
You can check which lords are in which dungeons by approaching the town. Once you are close enough to a town, hover over the town and you will see details about who is currently there. Hold down the ALT key while hovering over the town to see which specific troops and lords are there. You can see if there are any notable people in the Prisoners section.
Now, you can enter the town and select the option Go to the keep. This will take you to the keep of this town. If you haven’t already, you will need to bribe your way into here. Now, you can select the option Go to dungeon. At this screen, you will see every lord which is currently being held in this town’s dungeons.
Starting the Prison Escape Quest
Now that you have hopefully found a town with prisoners, you can start the prison escape quest. This is done directly through the town menu at the dungeon level, not by specifically talking to the prisoners like it used to be. At the Dungeon screen, simply choose the option Stage a Prison Break.
You will now be able to choose which prisoner you want to break out. You can only break out one prisoner at a time so choose wisely. It will also cost you some denars to bribe the guard of the town. This bribe will cost more or less depending on the importance of the character you wish to break out.
Simply pick the character you want to break out, and start the quest. You will immediately be teleported to the dungeon and start the breakout.
How to Break Lords out of Prison
Now we can start the quest. Before you start the quest there is a few things that you will need to take into account.
Firstly, the gear that you will use for the quest is your civilian gear. This can be changed from the inventory menu. Try to purchase and equip the very best civilian armor and weapons you can find. I personally recommend throwing knives and a good melee weapon.
Secondly, at any stage of the quest if you or the prisoner get taken down, you will fail the quest. Try to keep yourself and the lord alive. You can tell the prisoner to either wait of follow you by looking at them and pressing the F key. The best thing to do is to just let them wait at the beginning and take the guards out alone I’ve found.
Now, fight your way through the guards to break the lord out of prison. The guards in the quest will be random troops of the garrison. If you’re having trouble, it might be a good idea to save and reload until you get an easier pick.
I always like to pick up the weapons of the enemies in the prison as well. Often they will be better than the civilian level weapon that you are allowed to bring in.
Once you’ve made it through the prison, interact with the doors at the top to get out. This will complete the quest and both you and the prisoner will be free once again! Along with a large relations boost you will also gain a lot of experience in Roguery and Charm.
