Iron is one of the best basic strong metals in Cryofall. You can mine iron in its base form and process it into ingots which can be used in crafting. But first, you’ll have to find and mine those iron ore nodes. We will go over where to find iron and how to mine iron ore in Cryofall. I’ll also talk a little about what you can use iron for in Cryofall.
How to Get Iron Ore in Cryofall
In order to get iron ore you are going to have to find and mine iron ore deposits. There are a few places these deposits can be found. You may just find Iron ore deposits randomly in a forest. The best place to find iron ore deposits is by going to rocky mountains areas. Head to a rock mountains area and keep a look out for the iron ore rock. (Check the image below). Hit these rocks with a pickaxe and you will get some iron ore.
You can use any kind of pickaxe to mine iron ore deposits. The amount you get depends on your character’s mining skill and the tool used. That being said you are free to use a stone pickaxe to get iron ore. The image above shows what an iron ore rock looks like. This model can also appear reversed. They are quite easy to tell apart from the other rocks in the game. You can check out this page, to find your nearest rocky mountains area.
How to Get Iron Ingots
Once you have iron ore there is really only one thing you can do with it. Create iron ingots. Iron ingots are the iron that can be crafted and processed into other items. You will have to process your ore into actual bars of iron if you plan on doing anything productive with it. To begin with, you are going to have to open up the technologies panel by pressing the G key on your keyboard. Head to the first tier or the Industry tab and research the Furnace technology. This will allow you to melt down some metals and create ingots. Once researched you can build the furnace by equipping a toolbox and selecting the furnace from the list of things to build.
Once the furnace is built, interact with it by moving towards it and pressing the right mouse button. This opens the furnace menu. From here, select the Iron ingot crafting recipe from the list of available recipes. With the recipe selected, move all of your iron ore to the input area at the top of the menu. Now, add a fuel source to the furnace. You can use any wood product or coal to fuel the furnace. Every time the bar over the output area fills, you will gain one iron ore. You can leave this running while you go about your other business.
Crafting With Iron Ore
As with Copper, iron is used for a wide variety of different things in Cryofall. You will be able to not only create tools and weapons with Iron, but armors and even structures as well. Iron is also one of the key ingredients in creating steel. Steel is a denser version of iron. You are going to need a good supply of iron if you plan on advancing in Cryofall. Unfortunately metal ore locations are generally heavily contested on PvP servers so you’ll have to stay safe out there to get some.
There a such a large variety of uses for iron that I can’t even really go into detail on how much you will need. Even crafting stations such as the chemical laboratory and the weapons workbench require iron in order to build them. Getting iron ore and this, iron in Cryofall is going to be very important at the start of your adventure.
